More than 300 elephants are believed to have died under strange circumstances in Botswana, a mysterious trend that has alarmed local conservationists.

Elephants were found dead around water points, near human villages and in the savannah. Other live elephants were seen stumbling, weak and disoriented.

“An elephant was observed walking in circles, unable to change direction although encouraged by other members of the herd,” the charity Elephants Without Borders (ISF) wrote in a report on the mystery. The leak was broadcast on Wednesday by various media outlets, including AFP.
